Description
Accelerating a project isn’t about working longer hours or shouting louder in meetings. It’s a science. In The Physics of Project Acceleration, physicist-turned-project leader Greg Lawton reveals how to apply mathematical principles and proven planning techniques to deliver projects faster and smarter.
Inside, you’ll discover:
- The 8 types of project acceleration and how to define them clearly
- 33 practical methods to truly shift project curves and timelines
- Exclusive insights from Micah Piippo’s “Milestones & Missteps” on applying these methods to high-stakes projects
- How to manage uncertainty and risk to speed up delivery without chaos
- Visual tools and graphs that make even complex scheduling simple to understand
Whether you’re leading a small build or a billion-dollar megaproject, this book equips you with the mindset and methods to cut through complexity, align teams, and confidently accelerate delivery.
A note from Greg
For decades, I’ve learnt from people wiser than me about how projects really work. The tips and tricks for making profit, breaking trade-offs, and getting things done faster. My mentors have generated billions in revenue and millions in profit, all underpinned by what they knew.
But the techniques they shared were always based on experience and hearsay. The project management textbooks were full of general, basic concepts, but nowhere could I find the real lessons my mentors had taught me. No one had ever written them down like a recipe in a cookbook.
So, while my wonderful wife went to bed early, pregnant with our first child, I took the opportunity to do just that. I started writing everything down. Not just to remember it, but to understand it better. I wanted to codify it all, so I could become a true expert in Project Acceleration.
Using my background in physics, I built a framework for how to think about and measure acceleration in projects. Then I listed every technique I had seen, and even invented some new ones. But as I worked through it, I realised something important. These techniques weren’t just useful for me. They could be valuable to anyone running complex projects.
And so, I decided to share them.
Here lie the secrets to Accelerating Projects. If you want to become one of the world’s leading experts and make a massive impact on your projects, this book is for you.
